The globe evolved over millions of years by constantly shifting plates. About 100 million (100 ma) years ago, India was a part of Africa. It drifted and collided with the European Plate to form the current India and the Himalayas. In the process, the India Plate was split into two pieces hinged in Gujarat. The west side piece pierced the European Plate to form the current mountain range. The gap between the India and Europe plates was a giant canyon that formed into the current Indus River. A crack in the Africa Plate formed into the Red Sea and created a passageway from Somalia to India. An understanding of plate tectonics helps us understand why and how Hindus moved from the Africa Plate to India Plate.
